"In Australia, there are generally two types of locks used on fire doors: the Mortise lock type with round lever on rose furniture (Lever) and the Key-In-Lever type lock. While other locks can be found, these two are the most common.

FIRE DOOR LOCKS

All fire doors in Australia should have a fire door tag. This tag is located on the inside of the door just below the top hinge, with another tag on the frame. A fire door tag typically contains key information such as:

  • Manufacturer’s name
  • Fire rating (e.g., 30, 60, 90 minutes)
  • Model number
  • Certification details
  • Type of fire door core (e.g., Pyropanel, E-Core, or Fire Core)
  • Compliance standard (e.g., AS1905.1 for Australia)

This information helps confirm that the fire door meets safety standards and allows Electronic Locks Australia to recommend the correct fire-rated lock for your specific fire door.
